Gerald Cameron Barkley was born February 25, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio to William Barkley and Naomi Pleasant Barkley. He departed this life on December 31, 2021, at his home.

As an infant, he was baptized at St. Mark United Methodist Church. He remained a faithful member of Bond Hill-St. Mark, serving as an usher and New Vision United Methodist Church where he was active in the United Methodist Men.

Gerald attended Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Walnut Hills High School, where he played football. He furthered his education at the University of Cincinnati, graduating with an Associate’s Degree.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Joyce Ann Gaskins, and they had one son, Gregory Cameron Barkley. Gerald was a longtime employee of the Kroger Company and retired in 2017. He was an avid lover of sports of all kinds, but especially NFL and college football.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Barkley and his father, William Barkley.

Gerald is survived by: his son, Gregory C. Barkley; his grandson, Gabriel C. Barkley; his mother, Naomi Pleasant Barkley; his sister, Donna J. Barkley; and a host of relatives and friends.

A precious one from us is gone, a voice we loved is still.
A place is vacant in our hearts, which never can be filled.
